OCTOPATH TRAVELER OST FOR KNOWLEDGE FULL
Sadly I believe the links on YouTube that had these battle themes have been taken down, but trust me when I say they have equal amount of feeling for each villain and tell their story and personality so perfectly!! And the dread!! The looming sense of dread as the villains theme recurs!!! *chefs kiss*Īnyway, this has been the ramblings of an excited Tal who just wants the full soundtrack available worldwide, dammit. It really makes the app feel darker and I love it.Īnd there are more battle themes!! I don’t know much about it, but the extra prologue story that’s currently being released and updated for the app has - you guessed it - new villains and new, even more unique music!!
Nishiki gave us the villain’s side of the story and used it as a threat rather than a ray of hope. No bashing on the original travelers, but you can’t tell me that Helminia’s story isn’t far more interesting than most of theirs.Īnd Nishiki gave us that nuance! I especially love Arguste’s battle theme because it so clearly portrays the ups and downs and drama that that man was about. It creates such a different tone and is a complete flip!! And not only that, but I feel like it really allowed Nishiki to grow and expand his repertoire by creating unique songs for more unique and dark characters. Here’s the thing about the main game- right before you fought a boss you got the characters theme all hyped up and ready for battle rather than what the app has done which is, hype up the villain music. What’s so great about that you ask? The battle themes!! The?battle?themes!!!Įach villain gets their own nuanced and personal song that is slowly built up and transformed into absolute bangers of boss music - but it keeps the central theme! Rather than gentle themes and uplifting music as our recurring themes in the adventure we have instead-Ī constant grim reminder of the villain and battle ahead.īecause their themes are incorporated into their individual dungeon songs! And when you talk to them, rather than generic suspenseful music you’ve heard a dozen times, you get their specific yet slightly altered theme that just sets you on edge in the best way possible. But the incredible thing with the app is that rather than composing songs that center on the good, playable characters we got songs that instead focused on the villains. The biggest thing to notice is that the main game has themes centered around each playable character and they’re all beautiful and used fantastically throughout the game and with each characters story. (Champions of the Continent) Sadly it’s only in Japanese but what isn’t in Japanese is the music!Īnd I just am really excited about the differences in style Nishiki has shown with these two games. But last year, Square Enix came out with the really cool Octopath Traveler app that’s a prequel to the main game. I’ve gotten so many people hooked on his music when usually they hate my random video game music lol. So Yasunori Nishiki is easily my favorite composer, seriously take one listen to the work he’s done with the Octopath Traveler soundtrack and you’ll understand. About Octopath Traveler, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, and the genius of Yasunori Nishiki (music man)
Alright -cracks knuckles- nerdy Tal ranting ahead because this has been sitting on my chest.
